    Potters and Clay Artists are welcome to join the Lander Art Center clay open studio program at 320 Studio. We have 5 potters’ wheels, a slab roller, a pug mill and lots of table space. We have a kiln that fires to cone 6. We sell clay in 25 lb bags. The 320 Clay Studio is available to past LAC clay class participants, people who have taken the Beginner Orientation, or experienced potters.

    Students will develop creative talents while making unique art pieces. The program is divided into 4 blocks.  Sign up for the whole series, January 17 - May 9 for $170 and save $20. Students can also sign up for individual blocks.

    Handbuilding with Clay

    Learn how to create a variety of functional and decorative objects in clay using coil, slab, pinch and drape mold techniques. In addition to creating basic forms, students will explore surface treatments and decoration. This class will include handbuilding techniques only and will focus on creating sculptural objects. Class size limited to 6.

    Valentines Card Making

    Want to show your loved ones how much they mean to you this Valentines Day? Come join Lander Art Center for a fun night of card making, snacks, and wine!  In this three-hour class you will learn three different techniques to make your very own valentines cards.  These include creating your own pop up card, mastering the art of stamping and embossing, and the trick to making a perfect paper heart cutout.  After learning these techniques, you will have the rest of the class to make your own valentines for loved ones near and far.

    Explore the art of graffiti in this unique, new class. Jordan will include lessons about the history of street art, its place in pop culture, and the relationship between hiphop and graffiti.     Batik Basics

    Batik is the art of using layers of wax and dye to produce colored designs on textiles. Each student will learn about the basic tools and skills to create batiks and come away with one practice piece as well as a finished project. The class will also include basic instruction on a sewing machine to add the finishing touches.

    Creative Writing Workshop

    This workshop will explore the art of poetry as self expression. The class will cover some of the various forms and styles of poetry, as well as basic poetic concepts. Students will focus on discovering voice and developing concrete imagery using both written and mixed media exercises.  By the end of the series, each student will have created an art journal style collection of their own poetry.

    Portrait Painting Made Easy

    Join Kiki for a fearless introduction to portrait painting techniques. You will be guided through simple exercises that explore proportions, alignment, and lighting. Kiki’s gentle instruction creates an environment free of pressure and intimidation. By the end of this class, students will come away with the skills and confidence to practice portrait painting at home. Students will have the option to use acrylic or oil paints.
